Old House Borers: Old House Borers will only infest softwood lumber, primarily pine. Produce oval exit holes from ¼” to 3/8” in diameter. Their frass consists of fine powder & barrel shaped pellets. Required moisture content for development is between 10-28%. A loud rhythmic clicking sound is from the larval stage feeding. Egg to adult can be as short as 2 years or as long as 15 years.
