Carpenter Ants

Carpenter Ants: Carpenter ants infestation is indicated by presence of ants, ant trails, saw dust, and noises in walls. Mature colonies have a main nest and one or more satellite nests. Are not always black in color and vary in size. Swarmer’s (winged ants) appear from May to August from a colony usually 3 to 4 years old. Do not eat wood, they only hollow it out to nest in. Will forage up to 100 yards for food and water. They are most active at night.

Yellow Jackets: Yellow Jackets are small social insect (about ½”) yellow and black in color. Builds large paper nests in ground, on structures, or in wall voids. Large grey colored paper nest.Largest found was over 3 feet around. At seasons end can contain up to 4000 yellow jackets. Has a painful sting and can sting numerous times.

Bald-faced Hornets

Bald-faced Hornets: They are large social insect (about ¾”) white and black in color. Builds large paper nests on structures or in trees or bushes. Their grey colored nest can be up to 14” in diameter and over 24” long. At seasons end can contain up to 700 Hornets. Has a painful sting due to large size and can sting numerous times.

The House Mouse

The House Mouse: The House Mouse can carry many transmittable diseases. Prefer dark secluded areas to nest within any structure. Pregnancy lasts about 21 days producing 5 to 8 young. The female can have up to 8 litters per year. The young reach sexual maturity in 35 days.Life expectancy is about 1 year. They have keen senses except for sight. In 6 months a pair of mice will produce 18,000 droppings & 12 oz. of urine. An opening of ¼ of an inch will allow entry into a structure.
